Hannah has loved to draw ever since she was a little girl, as her school workbooks loudly testify. A homeschool graduate, Hannah has received private instruction in fine art, and enjoys the challenge of improving her skills through new methods and observation. She took an unexpected journey into graphic art with the 2016 publication of her debut picture book, Ajax Bound for Glory, written by her sister Sarah E. Dautel.
Hannah is fascinated by art’s ability to convey a story through pictures. From historical renderings to literature-inspired scenes, Hannah captures the mood of her characters in a subtle yet effective way.
When she is not drawing, Hannah enjoys playing the piano, studying penmanship and historical costumes, listening to music, and cooking. She lives with her family in Southern California.
